
Director of Central-Fill Pharmacy Services
Position Summary
GalenusCare is seeking an experienced and innovative pharmacist to serve as the Director of Central-Fill Pharmacy Services, leading the design, implementation, and continuous operation of our robotic pharmacy automation lab. This role will oversee all aspects of clinical integration, compliance, workflow optimization, and technology deployment related to automated drug packaging, labeling, and dispensing—supporting our commitment to safe, efficient, and individualized medication care. The ideal candidate combines deep pharmacy expertise with hands-on leadership in automation technologies, and will play a critical role in bringing scalable, tech-enabled pharmacy services to our clients in hospice, chronic care, and post-acute care.

Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ (onsite)
Key Responsibilities
Startup/Creation Phase:
- Lead planning, layout, and buildout of Robotic Automation Lab(s), in partnership with operations, IT, and vendor partners.
- Evaluate, select, and implement robotic dispensing and packaging systems (e.g., adherence packaging, strip packaging, vial-filling).
- Develop clinical workflows and protocols that integrate medication safety analytics into automation.
- Ensure pharmacy licensure, DEA compliance, and regulatory readiness across state and federal jurisdictions.
- Hire, train, and oversee a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy staff.
Ongoing Leadership:
- Manage daily pharmacy operations including personnel management and supervisory responsibilities.
- Mentor staff, creating a culture of learning and knowledge sharing for professional development.
- Foster positive working relationships.
- Manage day-to-day robotic lab operations including production, quality control, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Continuously optimize efficiency, safety, and throughput of robotic systems while maintaining clinical accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with clinical pharmacists, software engineers, and client success teams to ensure seamless medication packaging and delivery.
- Serve as primary liaison with robotic technology vendors, ensuring system uptime, upgrades, and performance KPIs.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar quality improvement methodologies.
- Monitor cost efficiency, scalability, and expansion needs to support multi-site growth.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Align robotic pharmacy strategy with company goals for medication management.
- Contribute to client-facing proposals and onboarding where robotic services are a strategic differentiator.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the executive team on the future of pharmacy automation.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy automation trends, innovations, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
- PharmD (or BS Pharm with extensive experience); licensed or eligible for licensure in applicable states.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in pharmacy operations, with 3+ years in robotic or automated dispensing systems.
- Serve as the pharmacist-in-charge for the NJ location.
- Proven success in leading the startup or transformation of automated pharmacy environments.
- Experience with technologies such as Parata, BD Rowa, SynMed, Noritsu, or similar.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
- Knowledge of DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and USP regulations governing automated dispensing and repackaging.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience in chronic care, long-term care, hospice, or specialty pharmacy automation.
- Lean/Six Sigma certification or process improvement training.
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing, innovation-focused, mission-driven company.
- Passion for patient safety, precision medication use, and solving real-world clinical problems through automation.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Working Conditions
- Onsite, with travel to other sites to be determined
- Minimum 40 hours per week.

Compensation
The compensation package for this position is open for discussion, commensurate with education and experience.
