Pharmacist – Fulfillment Pharmacy

Position Summary

The Pharmacist in the Fulfillment Pharmacy provides comprehensive medication dispensing and oversight in the fulfillment pharmacy. This role integrates advanced robotic automation and adherence packaging technologies to optimize medication safety, adherence, and comfort for medically complex populations. The pharmacist collaborates closely with Care Center Clinical Optimization Pharmacists and Technicians to ensure timely, accurate, and compassionate pharmaceutical care.

Location:  Onsite, Mt. Laurel, NJ
Status: Full-time, 40+ hours per week

Key Responsibilities

Fulfillment Duties

    • Review and verify all medication orders for appropriateness and accuracy.
    • Oversee the use of robotic dispensing and adherence packaging systems (e.g., blister cards) to support medication synchronization and administration accuracy.
    • Verify the accuracy of packaged medications prior to final dispensing.
    • Assures delivery procedure and location are appropriate and labeled accurately on all orders
    • Additional duties as assigned by the company in its sole discretion

Operational & Compliance Responsibilities

    • Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure workflow efficiency and accuracy in all fulfillment and packaging operations.
    • Takes necessary actions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of medications.
    • Maintains compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, CMS regulations, and client program requirements.
    • Supports internal audits, accreditation readiness, and quality assurance programs.
    • Assists in inventory management, including control of high-alert and controlled substances per DEA and Board of Pharmacy standards.
    • Participates in team huddles, workflow reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Maintains competency of information technology associated with pharmacy systems including workflow, prescription fulfillment, clinical documentation, training and inventory management to support pharmacy staff.
    • Collaborates to further promote productivity and quality.
    • Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists the pharmacy team in identifying ways to enhance processes
    • Maintains compliance with cold chain and room temperature prescription packaging requirements based on seasonal changes.
    • Additional duties as assigned by the company in its sole discretion

Qualifications

    • Education:  BS in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree (preferred)  
    • Licensure/Certification:
      • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of New Jersey.
      • Ability to obtain additional state licensure as required.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community, long-term-care, mail-order, hospital, or outpatient dispensing pharmacy required.
      • Experience with adherence packaging systems and robotic automation preferred.
    • Skills & Competencies:
      • Strong understanding of geriatric pharmacotherapy, palliative symptom management, and deprescribing principles.
      • Familiarity with pharmacy management and clinical documentation software.
      • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
      • Proven ability to balance high-volume dispensing with individualized patient care.
      • Team-oriented, reliable, and committed to quality patient care.

Physical & Work Environment

    • Fulfillment pharmacy serving specialized care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Company business hours with potential for evening or weekend rotation.
    • Requires attention to detail in a fast-paced, technology-enhanced environment.
    • Regular use of computers, barcode scanners, and automated dispensing equipment.
    • Requires standing for long periods and performing repetitive verification tasks.
